The Honey Bee Haven Garden t-shirt images were drawn by Emily Bzdyk, a graduate student studying bees and pursuing a PhD. Fran Keller, graduate student, designed the shirt.
Click on the images for a larger view of Emily and the different t-shirt colors.
The t-shirt has incredible detail and highlights some very iconic and memorable scenes from the bee garden and the bee biology facility. Emily is truly a talented artist and this is a very unique design. Once you visit the Honey Bee Haven Garden out at the Bee Biology Facility, you will want to wear your memory of your trip with this shirt.
Making jewelry and other art has always been one of Emily's passions. This often intersects with science, whether it is scientific illustration or decorative art based on biological subjects.
The t-shirt highlights the honey bee statue, the Harry H. Laidlaw Jr. Bee Biology sign, and the trail through the Honey Bee Haven Garden.
The images are framed with the 20 Generic names of all the bees that are present in the garden and seen on the flowers. And has the message "Save the Bees -Before They are Gone-", a reminder as to why we are selling the shirt, to bring awareness about the research being done to find out why honey bees are disappearing.
A portion of Honey Bee Haven Garden T-shirt sales will help support Honey Bee research at UC Davis.
Your purchases and donations support our education outreach programs. We educate over 7,000 students about insects each year thanks to your generosity.
